The Acidified Better Process Control School badge recognizes the earner’s competency in FDA regulations that prevent public health problems in acidified foods (regulations in 21 CFR 108 and 114), practical applications of the principals set forth by these regulations, and thermal processes and strategies of pathogen control. Acidified Better Process Control School (BPCS) teaches processors of canned foods how to understand food safety principles, thermal process development, supervisor training, container handling, good recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance. Foods discussed in Acidified BPCS include acid and acidified foods. Acidified BPCS uses the Ninth Edition (2021) of Canned Foods: Principles of Thermal Process Control, Acidification, and Container Closure Evaluation during the course of instruction. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) have reviewed this manual and found it acceptable for use by recognized providers of Acidified BPCS.

Better Process Control School (BPCS) teaches processors of canned foods how to understand food safety principles, thermal process development, supervisor training, container handling, good recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance. Foods discussed in BPCS are divided into three categories: acid foods, acidified foods, and low-acid foods. BPCS uses the Ninth Edition (2021) of Canned Foods: Principles of Thermal Process Control, Acidification, and Container Closure Evaluation during the course of instruction. Food Safety Defense Certificate

The Food Safety & Defense online graduate certificate program is an inter-institutional certificate program offered as part of the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GPIDEA/AG IDEA), in cooperation with Iowa State University, Kansas State University, and the University of Missouri. 

This online certificate can complement a graduate degree program or allow food industry professionals to advance their careers while working full-time to pursue in-depth specialized training. Core courses include Food Microbiology, Food Safety and Security, HACCP, and Food Toxicology as well as two additional elective courses.

InFORM, which stands for Introduction to Food Operations, Regulations, and Management, is a series of online trainings aimed at professionals working in the food industry for continuous education. As part of this series, the Principles of Microbial Food Safety is an interactive, online badge intended to provide basic knowledge of food safety and quality to those new to the food industry or to professionals seeking refresher training in these topics. The training covers a broad scope of key topics including the fundamentals of food microbiology, how to identify food safety hazards, and key concepts in processing for safety and quality. Designed to be completed in 4-6 hours, those finishing the program will receive an eye-catching digital badge, which can be displayed on social media as a symbol of competency in the safe manufacturing of foods.
